Back before everyone and their dog was an ‘animal-rights activist’ questions like this were a slam-dunk.
It wasn’t up for debate.
It wasn’t even a question.
Any animal that kills a person should be put down.
Period. Once they crossed that line, they were considered a menace.
Not the entire species, but the actual animal that had developed a taste for hunting people. Letting such an animal live was unacceptable.
Even the Bible, as far back as Genesis had something to say about it. One of the more plain-language translations put it this way: “If a wild animal kills a person, it must die.”(Genesis 9:5).
Domesticated animals were no different:
“If a bull gores a man or woman to death, the bull is to be stoned to death, and its meat must not be eaten. But the owner of the bull will not be held responsible. Exodus 21:28
But in this Disney-afflicted generation where we have started to think of animals as ‘people’ and give them names like ‘Cecil’.
Remember all those angry activists who wanted the hunters to die horrible deaths?
What do you suppose they would have to say to THIS news report?
Villagers in Dhitoyi area under Chief Tshovani are living in fear after two stray lions killed a three-year-old girl and injured her 12-year-old brother last weekend, TellZim News can reveal.
The area falls under Chiredzi Rural District Council (RDC) Ward 17, where human/wildlife conflicts are rife.
Zimparks public relations manager Tinashe Farawo confirmed the grisly incident saying they had received reports of two juveniles who were attacked by two marauding lions last Saturday evening.
“I can confirm that we received a report that two lions killed a three-year-old girl and injured her 12 –year-old brother who is currently admitted at Chiredzi General Hospital.
“The mother was in the kitchen while cooking when she sent her son to collect mealie meal in the next hut. The boy was carrying his sister on the back. The minors were intercepted by the lions as they moved back to the kitchen,” said Farawo.
The boy managed to escape but his sister was mauled to death by the predators that only left the girl’s intestines scattered a few metres away.local
If a person looked to Scripture and paid particular attention to the passages within the Bible that address the topic of hunting, then they’d walk away thinking not only is hunting animals tolerated but it is endorsed by God. And that’s exactly what this little book is about: proving that God, from Genesis to Revelation, is extremely cool with hunters and hunting. I’ll go out on a biblical limb and claim right off the bat that you cannot show me, through the balance of the Bible, that the God of the Scripture is against the responsible killing and the grilling of the animals He created. ~Doug Giles
