What a waste.

You don’t give much thought to exactly HOW things like live lobster find their way to market in landlocked cities … until you read a story like this one.

What a mess.

How bad was it? Bad enough that cops were grateful for locals scooping up some crates that were further away from the highway, and treating themselves to a free lobster supper.

The wreck happened on Canada’s East Coast.

If you’re wondering how they managed to be scattered all over the road like that, the story is pretty mundane. Reports are that the driver swerved to dodge an animal.

A lobster truck loaded with about 40,000 pounds of live lobster overturned on Highway 103 in Port Mouton about 1 a.m. Saturday morning, spilling it’s entire load.

Liverpool Fire Department and RCMP were called, and the road was closed for over five hours while workers tried to save what could be saved.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

This morning, however, there were hundreds of pounds of live lobster in the ditch, some entire crates full of large, fresh lobster.

And there were people there, taking advantage of the free lobster, after they said the RCMP gave them permission to take what they wanted after they opened the road. –Read More
