This is what wildlife is up against in Africa.
Not hunters, but poachers.

Video of myself freeing a Lord Derby Giant Eland from an illegal poachers wire snare in Northern Cameroon. Every region in Africa has different styles of poaching. This is one the most cruel methods I have witnessed because the animals are left to suffer in the traps for days. The poachers want the animal left alive when they check the snares for two reasons: the animal must be halal slaughtered according to Islamic law, and the meat remains fresh if the animal is left alive. The fate of African wildlife remains very uncertain.
