It’s no secret that deer are responsible for thousands of traffic accidents and millions of dollars in auto damage each year.
But capturing such an event on video is rare.
Capturing one this crazy is unheard of.
A Kentucky police officer provided a clinic over the weekend of how motorists should handle encounters with deer in a scary collision caught on dashcam video.
Officer Pittaluga of the Kenton County Police Department minimized the damage as much as possible while driving on a rural road in Visalia, despite the fact that a deer performed a “Triple Axel over the hood of his cruiser.”
The police department praised the officer’s efforts on its Facebook page.
“Officer Pittaluga applied his brakes and steered away from the deer in a controlled manner,” the KCPD wrote.
“Although he didn’t manage to avoid the collision, he did maintain control of his vehicle throughout the entire incident, even when the large (but apparently agile and acrobatically trained) deer was performing a Triple Axel over the hood of his cruiser.”
Unfazed, the deer quickly ran into the woods, cops said.
