You’ll Never Guess What The Rock’s Beard In “Hercules” Is Made Of

When the audience turns out for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Hercules this weekend, they’ll be spending most of their time staring at a face full of yak pubic hair.

This, because that’s exactly what The Rock’s beard is made of: the short and curlies of a yak.

The normally baby-faced half-Samoan explained the beard and its construction on Michael and Kelly earlier this week. The Rock explained,

“They put so much time and effort into the wigs and the beard, you just can’t believe it.And by the way, I gotta tell you, the beard hair – this is crazy – the beard wasn’t lace, so it had to be put on in strips cut an inch high, a quarter-inch wide, piece by piece. And so I asked my Italian designer, I said ‘Matteo, what is this? And he goes ‘Oh, is the hair from a yak. And I said oh, the yak, what part? And he’s putting the hair here on my face and he goes ‘Oh, the testicles. It’s the softest.”

Think I’ll take Matteo’s word on that last part.

No wonder The Rock pulls down the kind of scratch he does. I’d ask for millions as well if I had to spend all day with a yak crotch on my face.
