A horrific story out of Florida!

A Florida woman is in a critical condition after a five-foot-long alligator almost bit off her hand.

Kimberly Anne Sexton, 49, of St Cloud, was fetching a can she dropped in the water when the reptile swooped up and ‘almost fully amputated’ her hand.

Two passersby grabbed her by the legs to stop the gator from pulling her into the water.

Witnesses and her family tended to her before emergency medics arrived at Willard’s Fish Camp in the Everglades, near Fort Lauderdale.

When doctors arrived by helicopter, she had lost ‘a lot of blood’, her right hand was ‘almost fully amputated’ and she was drifting in and out of consciousness, said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.

He added: ‘The hand was still attached though it was a very severe.
