I’m mean, seriously.

What the hell is a haycock?

Tarantula in a tin, anybody? How about mealworm croquettes? These are among the offbeat starters at new city restaurant Haycock and Tailbar Associates, where diners can take their pick from a wide variety of exotic meats which you cook yourself at your table. Sometimes, new restaurants make a song and dance about their arrival. Sometimes flying under the radar is made into a counter-intuitive publicity strategy. Haycock and Tailbar Associates is definitely in the latter camp.

Located on the corner of Albion Street and Belvoir Street in what was the former Young’s Camera shop, from the outside very little has changed since Young’s closed.

To all appearances, it’s just an empty, closed shop. Look closely, though, and you’ll see a black door, a small nameplate and a bell. Ring the bell and someone will let you in.
